Quick Summary
A checklist of critical success factors for defining a product, and a worksheet for assessing the current state of your project's information.
What this is
A checklist of critical success factors for defining a product, and a worksheet that allows you to:
Why it's useful
The front-end product definition work is critical to the overall success of the project. Edith Wilson of Hewlett Packard created the checklist categories and success criteria for each, based on her study of numerous projects, and what made the difference between successful products and unsuccessful products.
How to use it
Using the Critical Success Factors Checklist as a guide, fill in each item of the worksheet. Assess your project's information against the criteria from the checklist and note where you feel the project information is deficient or missing. Those items should become the basis of high-priority action items for the team's product specification work.
