Quick Summary
A short survey form for determining what training and support your Project Managers feel they, their team members, and related functional managers need.

What this is

A short survey you can use to find out what learning and skill development is important to your project managers. The focus is on determining what subjects they think will help them and their team members achieve better results on their current projects, then asking them how they would like to learn about those subjects: training courses, self-study, brown-bag seminars, books, etc.

Why it's useful

Project management is always challenging, every project is different, and many PMs are at different skill and experience levels. This survey gives PMs a chance to voice what they need right now and ties it directly to helping their projects be successful, so when you plan training and other forms of learning for your PMs you give high priority to subjects they can put to use right away. Plus, you can provide the learning in a form you know they'll be receptive to using.

How to use it

Edit this template to add or change items to be most applicable to your organization and projects. Distribute it to your project managers/leaders and (if you wish) to related functional managers and team members. They can return it anonymously if that makes them more comfortable. Tally the results and use that to feed your planning for bringing training and other forms of learning into your group.

See also our template Company Program for Ongoing PM Learning: it shows one framework for combining different forms of learning into an overall program for your PMs.
